About us

It all started in 2011 as the DRed Room, a live action Halloween concert, 22 bands performed at the festivals over a period of 4 years. In 2015, the Dread House was created as a tour around Enfield and Hertfordshire’s most haunted places, there were 30 willing victims who toured round 15 sites with our story teller and were suitably spooked. In 2021 straight after lockdown the first major Dread House event occurred at Forty Hall for four days. This was born out of an enjoyable visit to Forty hall during the 2019 for their own and stand alone Halloween event. Mark saw the potential for how the house and all it's glorious history could be used to entertain people. The Forty hall team were enthusiastic to get involved and the event, started as a two day exhibition and followed a 2 day live action event with actors. In 2022 we approached the team at Capel manor, who took a chance on us to deliver and showcase ‘the Dread House Pirates’ a seven day spooktackular event. Initially, we were concerned that as it was a daytime event presented in daylight, it would compromise the scare element. With 2 major roads and road noise near by, for some reason it did not distract people from their enjoyment. Mark decided to capitalise on the success and Capel manor invited us back for 2023. We became a community interest company. We purchased a marquee with funding from the Enfield Charitable Trust, this enabled us to produce a spooky indoor experience. The live action 'Witch's Forest' a walk through event with live actors and spooky sections. For 2024 it was ‘Diabolical Circus’. On November 1st 2024, the theme and design for this years haunt was created. ‘Ghosts In The Haunted House’. We scaled back this year to bring you the best Dread House so far. We solely relied on you being scared, this was our best haunt, design and build to date. Take a look at the experiences page for the layout.
